In the midst of all of it…the AIDS, the poverty, the life expectancy, the children
…God created it all: the poor, the diseased, the innocent, the orphans, the throwaways and the abusers. All were created in God’s image…all deserve our help.
Anchor Your Life seeks to minister through both the sharing of His Word as well as helping to meet material needs of the children in Lesotho, Southern Africa. Through Christ’s love there is hope for the hopeless.
Confident of His grace,

My suitcases were all packed for Africa…and then I unpacked. Renee Mathis and I thought we were leaving for Lesotho on August 28, but God had other plans for us. Less than two weeks before we were scheduled to leave my back pain flared up again. Then, I received a call from Renee telling me that she had broken her rib in a fall down some stairs. Both of us are continuing to heal, and we have rescheduled our trip for November 5 – 18, 2009.
Poverty and AIDS have ravaged this tiny African country. Many families live on less than $1 a day. Unlike Christmas Day in the US, there are no presents under a tree for Lesotho children. We are bringing Christmas to Lesotho!
The gift of a pair of shoes gives a child protection from the cold snowy roads. A jacket provides warmth in the midst of winter. The gift of a skirt, a pair of pants or a sweater enables a child to continue in school wearing the required school uniform. A bag of meal-meal grain feeds a hungry family. The gift of a piglet or chickens enables a family to step out of poverty into a self-sustained existence. For many of us these seem like incredibly small gifts, but for those in Lesotho each gift can be life changing.

I am thrilled that God is continuing to afford us fresh opportunities to help the people of Lesotho and to share about God, the Greatest Gift-Giver of all, who gave the Greatest Gift of all to all. Will you join me in sharing our resources with those who are the least of the least in Lesotho through a gift to Anchor Your Life?
Joyfully Serving Him!

Lesotho is a small country (about the size of Maryland) in Southern Africa.

It is home to over 1.8 million people.

Challenges for Lestho:
Lesotho suffers from the third highest rate of HIV infection in the world. Almost one-quarter of the adult population is estimated to be HIV-positive.
Healthy life expectancy: 35.
60 percent of the population lives at subsistence level . Only 7 percent of households have access to electricity and only 12 percent to running water.

The Children:
Nearly 1 of 3 children in Lesotho live as orphans. Thousands are in need of even the most basic necessities of food and clothing.
