Don't Miss the Power

“Show Your strength, God, so no one will miss it!” (from the Message) Psalm 21:13

O Lord that is my prayer. Show Your strength, so no one will miss it. . .so that You and You alone will get the glory. . . so that others will see You and put their faith in You! For You are mighty, You are powerful, You are the One who parted the Red Sea, and the Jordan River. You are the One who used David to defeat Goliath. . . You used Gideon to defeat the Midianites. . . You are the One who wiped out an entire army of Assyrians without one Israelite laying a hand on them. You are the powerful One.

You are sovereign, nothing keeps Your plans from coming about. Nothing changes Your plans. Your plans are perfect. You’re so good You take everything and work it out for the good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose.

O Lord, how fortunate that I was chosen by You, that I can be called a child of the King. Have me watch for Your power in my life today!

Power with Purpose

God gives His Power to us for one purpose, to Glorify Christ. God’s desire for men and women is to clothe them with His Power. The Church in its feeble worship and ministry is faltering because of its lack of Power. The world awaits a display of God’s power to be convinced that God is in the midst of His people, His Church. But the bigger question is: Does the world see the Power of God at work within you?

A Prayer to Pray:
Father,
Let me not be content with mediocrity. I want to live as a witness for Jesus Christ. I want to live in sync with Your Spirit living within me. . . For I know that Your will is to fill me with Your Power in order that Your Son is glorified.

Father, keep reminding me that Your Power comes in my weakness. May I learn that Your Power is released through me so that the world will see You. May I allow Jesus Christ to hold the power and do His work in the midst of my weakness. May the Holy Spirit be so present in me that the world will see You in all I do and may You and You alone receive the credit and the honor. Father, I submit my whole being to Your Holy Spirit, let it rule within me.
Amen

When Life Looks Impossible

Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed. . . (NIV) Romans 4:18

Abraham is 100 years old. His wife, Sarah, is 90. God has told Abraham, “Look up at the heavens and count the stars– if indeed you can count them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your offspring be” (Genesis 15:5). Not a big deal if Abraham is already a great grandfather. The problem with the scenario from a human perspective, is that Abraham and Sarah are childless.

If you were Abraham would you have given up hope decades ago? Not Abraham. . .”Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed. . .Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead– since he was about a hundred years old– and that Sarah’s womb was also dead. Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised” (Romans 4:18-21). Did you catch that? Abraham was totally convinced that God had the power to do what He had promised!

Are you convinced of God’s power? Do you believe that God will be faithful to His promises found in the Bible? The truth is that God will be faithful to His Word because God’s character is unchanging.

So what’s your impossible situation? Do you believe that God has the power to turn it around? Or have you given up hope? Are you losing patience in the midst of your impossibility?

Imitate Abraham’s faith. . . even though all logic said, no way could Sarah get pregnant. . . trust in God, allow Him to strengthen your faith. . . and in the end you will see He is faithful to His promises! By the way, Abraham and Sarah were the oldest at the maternity ward, but were proud of their son, Isaac, who was the first of their countless offspring who became the Jewish people.

Fresh Presence, Fresh Power

Jesus had died. . . 3 days later He rose from the dead and appeared many times . . . once to as many as 500 followers. And He promised to send them a gift from His Father. That gift was the Holy Spirit. Jesus related the receiving of the power with being witnesses to all mankind.

The only hope that we have to evangelize our world is through God’s power. And with that power, comes the responsibility of being a witness to what God has done through Jesus. . .and a witness to what God has done in and through your life.

When was the last time that you shared with a “Pre-Christian” the story of what God has done in your life? You may say, “But I’m not an evangelist!” Neither were those who Jesus addressed in Acts 1!

Take a moment now and list 3 people that you know who do not have a relationship with Christ.

Pray that God’s Spirit will prepare those individual’s hearts and minds so that they will be ready to clearly understand who Christ is and what He has done for mankind (John 15:26). And pray that God will continue to give you opportunities to build your relationship with those individuals and that you will act on those opportunities.
