Slaughtering a Sheep

We received a great honor while in Lesotho.  On the behalf of 6 other ladies, Seithati and her husband slaughtered one of their five sheep for us.

Seithati and her son

This is a high honor in Lesotho. It touched my heart in such a special way that they were willing to give a great gift to us when they have so little.

Here’s what the women wrote to us as they presented us with the meat and with other gifts…

To see you, to meet you, and to know you, it is a greatest event to be under God’s umbrella. We thank you and God that He sent you to our country. We really appreciate the friendship we got from you and everything you did for us. In a nutshell you are the cronies in deed.

These 7 women have been our friends for 2 years. They greet us with warm smiles and serve us graciously while we stay at the hotel.  We try to extend acceptance, gratitude, friendship, and the love of Jesus Christ.

Their sacrifice of the sheep is a reminder of an even greater sacrifice…the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross. There is no greater display of the love of the Father, who sent the Son, the Lamb of God…to die for our sins, so that we can spend eternity with Him.

The ladies at the Lesotho Sun gave us far more than what we could ever give them. Jesus Christ exchanged His life for ours and gave us the greatest gift of all, Himself.
