Remains of Peter's House.
The Gospels reference Peter's house on severeral occasions. Apparently, Peter's house was of particular importance to
the early Christians. Jesus chose to stay at Peter's house while in Capernaum. Located only 30m south of the synagogue, archeologists have discovered that Peter's house had
many rooms situated around a large courtyard. The Gospels note that Peter's house was also shared by Andrew's family, Peter's brother, and Peter's mother-in-law. In fact,
it was customary for several families to be sharing a private house in Capernaum.
A church was built on top of Peter's house, preserving the ruins of the house.
