The heart of Jewish society, the synagogue was frequented by Jesus on several ocassions. He healed a demon-possessed man while in
the synagoue.The people were astonished that even evil spirits listened to him. Jesus taught in the synagogue as well. He gave his sermon on the bread of life in the synagogue. The people
who heard his teaching were amazed, saying that his teaching "... had authority behind it."
