Although it poured rain most of the day, I was able to follow 2 brothers through their day. They rise at 6AM and take turns bathing in the red bucket. Sometimes they eat a light breakfast. Other times they have to wait until they receive the school lunch.
We walked down muddy roads about 3/4 of a mile to the school. My jeans were caked with mud and soaked half way up to my knees. These kids are tough!
I was able to visit the boys’ classrooms.
Then the fun really started!
We made a special connection with the principal and to my surprise I knew many of the teachers from a visit 2 years ago. 319 of 678 children are orphans at this school. After walking in mud and seeing the children’s shoes, we headed to the store. We were able to help with 65 pairs of shoes. We would have done more but they ran out of sizes.
Then their award winning choir treated us to a 45 minute concert! (When I get home I’ll upload the video. Their voices were incredible! It was such a special day.
