Winter Packs

Our Lesotho friends are usually on the receiving end in Lesotho. Today they were on the giving side as they joyfully handed out winter packs to kids from “God Cares”. Not even crutches and a cast stopped KeKe!!!

DSC_5872The colorful backpacks were filled with a blanket, hat (knit by friends in the USA), gloves, and a scarf. Much needed warm items to help the kids weather through a very chilly winter in South Africa. Thanks Up with Down’s, Sotheby’s, and friends of Anchor Your Life for making all this happen!!!

A special project prepared by special hands

The students and adults from Up with Down’s recently began packing the contents for this years’ Christmas Packs. The students knew exactly what they were doing as this is the third year that the students have worked on this project. Last year was a huge success! The colorful backpacks were made especially for us by Loving Covers. They are filled with toiletry items and will be delivered this month to needy children in Lesotho and South Africa.

Each Christmas Pack contains shampoo, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, Vaseline, and a face cloth for each child.

There is great satisfaction in the work that the students and adults at Up With Down’s is doing. Through their packing projects they are providing hope for children who have very little. You can see the satisfaction in the smiles on their faces! A special project, prepared by special hands. Thanks Up with Down’s for helping us make a difference in the lives of hundreds of children!

Messengers of Love

The letters we receive from Up with Down’s are so special!

The student’s love sharing what’s going on in their lives and are enthusiastic about expressing their love for Up with Down’s and the adult centre. These kids are learning so much and developing new social skills everyday!

We love our partnership with Up with Down’s and hope that we can continue to expand our letter program and give more adults from Up with Down’s the chance to take part in this outreach program.

The adults from Up with Down’s are spreading love one letter at a time!

Letters to Lesotho

Our friends from the US and at Up with Down’s have been writing letters to our kids in Lesotho for several years now.  During each trip we take the time to hand out letters to each of the pen pals. This time always brings tons of smiles!

The letters are a huge source of encouragement to the kids in Lesotho. Many of them have hung their letters on the doors of their homes as reminders of the people who are praying for them.

After handing out the letters, time is spent with the children reading their notes out loud. Kids run around showing their letters off to friends.

These letters are a simple way of showing these kids that we love them, and more importantly that God loves them! Pen pals share Bible verses back and forth as a means of encouraging one another through scripture.
