Yesterday I shared about the importance for me to set aside time each morning to spend with God. When did other people of the Bible pray?
- Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before. (Daniel 6:10 NIV)
- About noon the following day as they were on their journey and approaching the city, Peter went up on the roof to pray. (Acts 10:9 NIV)
- One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God. (Luke 6:12 NIV)
- Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. (Mark 1:35 NIV)
- Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. (Luke 18:1 NIV)
- One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God. (Luke 6:12 NIV)
- But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed. (Luke 5:16 NIV)
- ** Jesus went out as usual to the Mount of Olives, and his disciples followed him. 40 On reaching the place, he said to them, “Pray that you will not fall into temptation.” (Luke 22:39 NIV)
When do you pray? Is prayer a big enough priority in your life that you will get up early or stay up late? Have you ever spent the night in prayer? Or extended time in prayer talking with your Father? Do you pray often? Would others say, “As usual he\she is praying?”
When is the best time in your day to spend 5 to 15 to 30 minutes with God? In the morning? lunch? afternoon? evening? And how committed are you to keeping your appointment with God? He will never be late He will never be absent. He will never be tired. He will never be unattentive. . .how about you?
