For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (NIV) Isaiah 9:6
A Wonderful Counselor – One who is our advisor and directs our paths. One who helps us make wise decisions, devises plans, determine our purpose. He promises us that He will instruct us and teach us in the way you should go; He counsels us and watches over us (Psalm 32:8); His counsel is wonderful and His wisdom is great (Isaiah 28:29).
And even after His death, Christ left His Counselor with us. . .His Spirit dwells within each person who has a relationship with God. Jesus called that Spirit, “Counselor.” He said: “. . .the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father, he will testify about me” (John 15:26); “. . . that Counselor to be with you forever” (John 14:16); and that Counselor “will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you” (John 14:26).
We never lack guidance, direction, or counsel. . .for we have the Counselor with us. If you lack direction, have you gone to our Wonderful Counselor and asked for His wisdom? Or have you sought it elsewhere? From a therapist? A friend? The media? The internet? A psychic? A self-help book? Go to the One who holds the key to all wisdom, the Wonderful Counselor, Jesus Christ!
