But Esther had kept secret her family background and nationality just as Mordecai had told her to do, for she continued to follow Mordecai’s instructions as she had done when he was bringing her up. (NIV) Esther 2:20
Queen Esther, wife of the most powerful man in the world, was told by Mordecai to keep quiet about her Jewish background. But, what if she chose to disobey Mordecai? After all he was only her uncle, she was the Queen. But Esther, who always turned to Mordecai for advice, trusted in what he said.
Esther’s obedience eventually saved her people. She gathered the strength and courage to confront the King and request that the plot to exterminate all Jews be revoked. She knew that no matter the outcome (which could have been her death), she had to act, and she was ready. She had been prepared “for such a time as this”. At your time “such as this” will you be ready?
We are children of the Most High God. He has entrusted us with His Words of knowledge to prepare us for all that we face each day. As we live out each moment may we act on the knowledge God has given us and always turn to Him who is the giver and creator of all things.
